lucy & owen.

remember sarah & me?

well, here are the by-products: lucy & owen!

sarah, lucy, jamie, and gavin all made a trip to KC to visit at the beginning of june. lucy is 4 weeks older than owen. this was taken less than 2 weeks after owen's arrival, so lucy would have been almost 6 weeks, and owen almost 2 weeks old.

this picture was taken a couple of weeks ago during a mini-vacation to lake michigan. lucy almost 14 weeks, and owen almost 10 weeks. i love posing babies together. i think it's ridiculous and hilarious, and this picture sure is both.

just as it was fun to have sarah going through pregnancy at the same time as me, it will be fun to be raising our little ones who are so close in age!

back to work.

i did it. i kissed my baby boy goodbye, and walked my big girl self into work. and survived.

my owen is 12 weeks old today. and 12 weeks marks the end of my maternity leave. the end to the best summer ever. what an incredible 12 weeks i've had watching this little boy grow.

the first night we got home from the hospital, i put him down to sleep in his crib in his own room for the first time. then i tip-toed down the hall to our bedroom, held the baby monitor to my ear, and sobbed. silly, but i missed him so much. i loved him so much.

and that is no less true today than it was then. i ached for him so much. i love him so much.

but just like that first night, i survived.

owen has smiled in his sleep since the week we brought him home from the hospital. it really is quite comical, actually. we always joke that he must be dreaming about nipples.

but now? he smiles as a reaction to something that makes him happy. and when i am that something that makes his cute little dimple show, and his little arms and legs kick, i melt.
