brooks: 8 months.

This isn't the start of monthly updates. But a lot has changed so quickly for my miniature dude that I felt it warranted another update, albeit one month later.

Brooks at 8 months:

First up, this baby is mobile. What started as inching has progressed to all-out army crawling. And doggonit, he's quick. (sorry, no video)

And then a tooth popped through. And a week later, another tooth popped through. (But trying to photograph said teeth makes one grouchy.)

And then shortly after that, he began being able to support and balance himself when we propped him up.

And I'm a little bit scared at the rate this is going that he might grow up on me! Why is it that those sweet babies do that to us? Stay bitty for awhile longer, please!

our weekend in photos.

This past weekend was our last until school starts back up again tomorrow. One final warm day, followed by some colder weather and even a dusting of snow to close out our spring break.

I have a feeling this will be a summer theme this year:

A trip to the mall in hunt of some easter garb for my little guys. I brought a helper along, which made the trip much less efficient than it would have otherwise been, but we left with Easter wardrobes, so I felt it was successful.

We also had a weekend visitor. Bo stayed with us - young pups wear my old dogs out!

After barely getting by after our trip out of town, it was time we made a trip to the grocery. Owen made a list [milk, bread, frosting, yogurt] for our shopping adventure. We came back with a few extra items, and left off one.

Sometimes you have to jump over the defense.

We had a pretty good weekend, but I know one little boy who is ready to get back to school to see his friends. As for me, I'm looking forward to later in the week when the warm weather returns!

my [spring break] weekend in photos.

Since my weekend was extended by a little getaway to Indiana during the boys' spring break, I decided to hold off my weekend photo bomb to cover our trip.

I have no pictures for proof, but Colby and I kicked off our first night of break with a little St. Paddy's party with a house full of Hoosiers living in KC. We wore green, ate green, and drank green.

Saturday morning, we all piled in the car for a road trip to Indiana. With the exception of a near-accident, the trip was seamless. Our boys were on stellar behavior. The weather was gorgeous, which made stops enjoyable.

Our trip, as always, seemed entirely too short. Our kids were healthy, which made such a difference from my last visit when Brooks was feeling under the weather.

The weather wasn't quite as nice in Indiana as were enjoying in KC, so a lot of time was spent indoors playing basketball on Grandma's new over-the-door goal which more than pleased Owen.

I also snuck a trip south to Columbus with a couple of my girlfriends to meet the newest of the high school crew's little ones. Miss Adley Kate was more than adorable, and perfectly teeny and snuggly. Even though I'm not really that far out from that stage, it was amazing how distant it seems from my almost 8-month-old who has changed by leaps and bounds in the last few weeks.

Trips to visit Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Derek are always a highlight to our year. Thankful for a fun visit and time together as a family.

In no particular order, below are some pictures from our trip!

my weekend in photos.

Last weekend we finally got our re-do. After a [really] crappy birthday for Colby, (we spent the entire day cooped up in our car driving home from indiana, both with the flu.) I promised him we'd do the day over and do it up right for the big 30 celebration.

So, on Saturday morning while Colby & Owen went to the gym for a morning of swimming (!), I baked a cake. His favorite mayonnaise cake, as done each year. Some look better than others, but they always taste dang good!

Then after an afternoon at home, [kept occupied by our now-mobile Brooks the two of us snuck out for a celebratory dinner at our most favorite spot to celebrate big life events: Capital Grille.

If you've never had the pleasure, then please do yourself a favor and order a stoli doli. One of my all-time favorite cocktails to start off my favorite steak dinner.

Sunday warmed up a bit, with promise of an even warmer week ahead. If this is a dream, please don't wake me.

We went to church, and while I grabbed lunch with a friend, the boys hung with our in-laws. We snuck a rare opportunity that there wasn't at least one of us in PJ's to snap our second family photo since Brooks' birth. Whoops.

Errand-running just got easier. Since his carseat took up the entire shopping basket, we each pushed separate carts in previous family shopping excursions. This time, we enjoyed AH shopping cart with a really cute front-seat rider sticking his tongue out at us the entire time.

We spent the rest of our Sunday enjoying the refreshing and much needed warm front. (As did the rest of the city - everyone was outdoors.)

That's a lot of candles. My husband is OLD. Happy birthday, honey!

We are looking forward to a week of better weather and the countdown to spring break. Come on, SPRING! We're all ready for ya.

my weekend in photos.

We had a good weekend around here.

Friday night was kicked off with a birthday. My father-in-law turned 60!

We ran errands, as we always do on the weekends, but got supplies for a fun weekend in the kitchen with the impending winter storm coming in. (PS - groceries with Starbucks and carts with cupholders rock my world.)

Oklahoma Joes bbq for dinner, and a fondue Saturday night!

Here it is. Saturday night's weather predictions, with another 1-4" in Sunday's forecast.

And for the record, we didn't see much more than this. Can we all agree that the hype behind this storm was the lamest of all?

But onward and upward. It was bitter cold, so we still kept indoors. First up, chocolate chip sweet rolls and cinnamon roll making with my favorite little helping hands.

Suddenly, basketball has become Owen's new favorite pastime. So many breaks were taken during our baking adventures to shoot some hoops. He has quit the captive audience, don't you think?

For dinner, homemade pizzas! The dough recipe yields enough that we each can have our own pizza (with leftovers!).

And fondue [round 2] for dessert. So the treadmill was an appropriate end to a weekend full of sweets and savories.. and lots of it. (And for the record, this was his idea. And he was only allowed to walk. For 2 minutes. But the headband was a nice touch, no? His idea, also.)
