We started our holiday weekend early with a family trip to the lake.
We spent 3 nights in Bella Vista with Colby's parents, his brother & family, and sister & family in the beautiful Cedar Lodge. (Follow the link for more photos from the trip!)
It was Colby & I's 9th wedding anniversary. We spent it all packed into a car headed on a trip with the family we've built together - doing very normal things like changing diapers, fetching dropped items to stop the shrill screams, listening to toddler radio, and splitting a pack of sour worms. Being able to picture this snapshot really made my heart so happy - a glimpse into our 'normal' after 9 years of marriage.
We arrived back home on a rainy Sunday and vegged around home while catching up on some laundry & house work.
It was nice to then have one full day at home on Monday for the holiday before returning to work. We paraded to the pool for our neighborhood's annual 4th celebrating, ending with an ice cream truck.
I prefer my OWN ice cream. ;-)
All kinds of festive up in here.
We headed back later for swimming & then made some homemade pizzas.
That night, I left Colby & Sadie behind for bed, while I took the boys out for fireworks with all of the cousins we spent the whole weekend with - guess they weren't sick of each other yet!
Brooks was spooked at the first loud boom, and spent the entire show sitting like this. (No shelter from the noise, btw - and you could still see them through the blanket. But he refused to remove it.) Then on the way home, he said "I had fun at fireworks!" Ha.
