my weekend in photos.

I'm going to catch up with my weekends in photos, but I'll first start with the one most fresh in my brain. And I must warn you, this is my "condensed" photo version. So many photos, it's hard not to share them all.

We had a rough start to our weekend with a Hoosier loss in the sweet 16. It was impressive that they had even made it there, but we were hoping for an even longer run.

But we at least got some cute photos out of the deal.

Saturday was a mama-Brooksy date day - we went to see Disney on Ice, and then out for dinner - just the two of us. For as much time as I spend with Brooks per his demands, it's rarely one-on-one. It was a really special way to spend my day soaking up his best self.

Saturday morning. Spring showers. This kid loves to be outside.

We weren't interested.

So we baked to pass the time.

I woke up to a snow covered sky light on Easter morn. We didn't have a white Christmas, but we had a white Easter! It actually snowed most of the morning, and ended up accumulating a 1/2 inch around town (and more further west!).
We were up and fed and dressed in our Easter's best and out the door by 8:30, which was rather remarkable considering we didn't wake up until 7:15.

The kids came away with jelly beans & beach towels & flip flops from Nana & Papa's Easter brunch, but I'm pretty sure I won. These tulips radiate happiness.

By late afternoon when we were leaving, a different season had arrived to KC. We shed our layers, took some photos, and enjoyed the sunshine. The change in weather was wild.

Happy Easter from our crew!

An Easter outtake:

Conversation between Colby and I before church...

C: "Nice jumpsuit."
M, surprised and super impressed with his fashion knowledge: "Thanks! How did you know this was called a jumpsuit?"
C: "Because that's what they wore in Ghostbusters..."

life::an outtake

Today I had the privilege to have a day date with my littlest man. Grandpa gifted him a couple of tickets to Disney on Ice for Christmas, so I've been looking forward to a Mama & Brooksy day together for months.

He loves an adventure - alternating between running through the sidewalks and stopping abruptly to squat down to point something out or touch different surfaces, he makes it painfully obvious that we don't get out much. ;-)

The show was adorable - touching on all of MY favorite classics - Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin, Toy Story, and then an obligatory segment on Frozen. Since we don't spend a lot of time watching movies around the Dischinger household, he's only familiar with Buzz & Woody because we own the action figures, and the Frozen songs that played in the homes of America for months.

We DO, however, LOVE us some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.. and thus spent a lot of time wondering where Mickey and Minney and Donald and Goofy were when they disappeared behind the curtain.  "They're taking a nap inside the castle." So naturally, at one point during the Toy Story portion of the show he started yelling, "Goooooofy.. where aaaare you? ... Time to wake uuuuuppp!"

Following the show, we stopped at Unforked for some dinner where we indulged in some after-dinner treats. A Dirt & Worms sundae for the win to cap off the evening. Had the best day with my little Mama's Boy.

my weekend in photos

After only 2 days of work this week, I still found myself exhausted after coming off of several days of sickness. Strep throat ain't no joke, yo. Really, being sick as an adult ain't no joke. With the madness of March in full swing,  it wasn't hard to convince my husband to spend the night at home in front of the tv. But I had some sweet entertainment.

Since a few of our plans for Spring Break didn't go as planned with my being sick, our mid-week breakfast date got rescheduled for Saturday morning. Breakfast with our tribe was just what we needed after a week of grouchiness.

I had a date with my lady co-workers Saturday eve to celebrate love and marriage. I took obsessive phone breaks to check the score of the Hoosier game at the start, but by time the band started, I joined my favorite wedding crew and dance partners danced the night away.

Sunday felt good - a reuniting with routine after a lot of days out of our usual flow. Church, and lunch out, and errands, and basketball, and small group before everyone crashed for our upcoming full week back to work and school.

[Palm Sunday. Brooks was a deer in headlights the entire parade through. Also, sporting his big brother's sports medal.]

Little lady fashion fills me up. ;-)

life::an outtake

I picked him up a few weeks ago. I can't remember the last time before that that I had done that. His legs nearly dangled to the ground. Watching him lie there this afternoon, soaking in some sunshine while I traced his body's long outline, reminded me of that moment. Because it wasn't long ago that his body was so compact that it's entirety fit [so perfectly] into my arms.
