my weekend in photos.

Colby and I enjoyed the rare opportunity to have a date night Friday night. We grabbed dinner and ice cream, and called it a celebration of our anniversary that we had both forgotten was coming up. (and would have otherwise made reservations at our usual anniversary spot) Old married folk.

Saturday, we had a game for Owen - a HOT day, right at nap time. Somehow, the babies survived, and Owen had a great game.

Nana & Papa came over for some pool time & ribs before we settled back in at home for the evening. I aspire to be a great cocktail maker.

We didn't make it to church Sunday morning, but instead went to the farm for a birthday party for our fav neighbor's oldest girl.

Then I took my shweaty self to lunch with friends downtown at a vegan spot that was out of my realm. Plus, a pregnancy announcement came out of it, so that's always happy news. :)

Spent the rest of our evening close to home with family - doing laundry and packing for our upcoming holiday weekend.

my weekend in photos.

Another hot weekend rolled through the region, meaning time in the water was a must.

Father's Day attire.

We celebrated Father's Day with a trip for bagels for breakfast, and pizza for dinner - aka, all the kid-pleasers.

This daddy is LOVED. Our kids are lucky to have scored such a fun dad.

life::an outtake.

When the sun sets late, and the evenings are HOT.. the ol' post-dinner, pre-bedtime bath routine gets a makeover. Weeknight "baths" in the pool are far more exciting than the normal evening grind.

my weekend in photos

A college friend was in town for the weekend, and I was invited to take some pictures of her sweet fam. Love reuniting with old friends!
My dad came to visit this week, so we headed out to dinner for his last night for a late birthday celebration. It was a hot day, and a margarita was on the mind - so we chose Cactus Grill - a first time for my dad.

It was a good thing we had margs, because the toddlers in tow were not on their best behavior.

Summer showed up in a hurry, and we didn't have anything pressing on our Saturday agenda.. so we spent most of the day at the pool. Our favorite neighbors were there, and we packed lunches.

We took a break for naps, then headed back for our neighborhood pool party that evening. Sadie was feelin' it.

Owen is our little fishy, and the other two are warming up to it by the day.

Sunday morning, I thought I would get a run in to beat the heat. But as it turned out, 8:30 was already quite muggy and hot. But my running partner had me running a faster mile to get us back to the A/C quicker

We made it back to the pool - we'd be silly not to.

And then made it home just in time to watch a brief summer downpour from our window.

After a delicious dinner from the grill the boys prepared on the grill, I spent the evening NOT at my laptop, and down for an early bedtime.

life::an outtake

This morning, for the first time in a very long time, I had reached the point where after almost a week without running I found myself itching to go for a run. My runs are normally accompanied by a friend - having someone meet you at the crack of dawn keeps you accountable. Although I always feel good after I run, most 5AM alarms aren't welcomed. Reaching the point of wanting to run - without my running friends, after a 4-hour night of sleep, and on a day I'd otherwise not have had to wash my hair (the struggle is real) - I'd say it's a game changer.

Some takeaways from this morning's run with Kirkwood: [a] 8:30 AM is a lot different than 5:30 AM in June. Holy humidity. [b] Having a running partner who is quicker than you becomes painfully apparent about a mile in. [c] I may have had a faster mile time, but running partners who can talk Bachelor or toddler shenanigans with you during the run make the time pass MUCH more quickly.

my weekend in photos.

Twas my birfday weekend, and it was a good one.

The best way to start a birthday, is with a run with one my my besties on an early morning run. Mr. Turtle was there on the trail to cheer us on.

I took a short day of work, spent a couple of solitary hours on the porch editing some wedding photos, then went out and celebrated with my favorite little fam. We went to BRGR for an early dinner and sat on the patio with some fun cocktails in the sunshine.

Afterwards, we moseyed on over to the PV art fair for a hot minute before heading back home for an evening on the porch.

I threw myself a birthday party on Saturday morning at Rye for brunch with a mod podge of some of my favorite ladies.

We spend some time at the pool on Saturday evening.

After church on Sunday, we visit with Colby's cousin who was visiting from CA, then headed to our favorite neighbors' for some drinks and water fun for the kiddos.
